Accessibility Statement
Effective date: April 21, 2026 · Last updated: April 21, 2026
Optimal Health York is committed to making our website and services accessible to all people, including individuals with disabilities. We believe healthcare access should not be limited by a visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, or other impairment. This statement describes our accessibility efforts, the standards we follow, and how to reach us with accessibility concerns.
1. Our commitment
We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
We also work to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable Pennsylvania state accessibility requirements for healthcare providers.
2. Accessibility features on our website
Our website includes the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML structure — proper headings, landmarks, and lists so assistive technologies can navigate our pages.
- Alternative text for images — all informational images include descriptive alt text for screen readers.
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements can be operated using a keyboard alone.
- Sufficient color contrast — text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Scalable text — text resizes through browser controls without loss of functionality.
- Descriptive link text — links clearly describe their destination, avoiding generic phrases like "click here."
- Responsive design — layouts adapt to different screen sizes, zoom levels, and device orientations.
- Form labels — all form fields have associated labels for screen reader users.
- Language declaration — page language is declared for screen readers that support translation.
3. Assistive technologies we support
Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
- Speech recognition software including Dragon NaturallySpeaking
- Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- Screen magnification software
- Keyboard-only navigation
4. Telehealth accessibility
Our telehealth platform, SimplePractice, supports accessibility features including closed captioning during video visits, screen reader compatibility, and keyboard navigation. If you require accommodations for a telehealth appointment — including but not limited to American Sign Language interpretation, real-time captioning, or extended appointment times — please notify us at least 48 hours before your appointment by calling (717) 202-2285 or emailing zainoptimalhealth@gmail.com.
There is no additional charge for accommodations requested for clinical appointments.
5. Physical office accessibility
Our office at 111 East Market Street, Suite 201, York, PA 17401 is located in a building with the following accessibility features:
- Accessible entrance
- Elevator access to Suite 201
- Accessible restrooms
- Accessible parking in the surrounding area (on-street metered parking and nearby public garages)
If you have specific accessibility needs for an in-person visit, please contact us in advance so we can prepare accordingly.
6. Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on our website may not be fully accessible. Areas we are actively working to improve include:
- Third-party embedded content (such as maps and the SimplePractice booking widget), which may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
- Older content or PDF documents that may not fully meet current accessibility standards.
We are committed to addressing these limitations as part of our ongoing accessibility work.
7. Ongoing improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We review our website periodically and welcome feedback from users. New content and features are designed and tested with accessibility in mind before publication.
8. Report an accessibility issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website, encounter difficulty accessing any part of our services, or need content in an alternate format, please contact us. We will do our best to respond within two business days and provide the information in a format that works for you.
